2008 Ohio Crime Conference: Effective Strategies for Reducing and Preventing Crime
The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, is pleased to announce the 2008 Ohio Crime Conference: Effective Strategies for Reducing and Preventing Crime. The conference will be held September 18, 2008, in Columbus, Ohio. It will include presentations on causes of crime and how this knowledge serves as the basis for effective programs to reduce and prevent crime. The conference is free of charge.more

JAG and VAWA Request for Proposals Released
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) request for proposals are now available. The JAG applications support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on local needs and conditions. The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) applications support agencies to develop and strengthen effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies and services to combat crimes against women.more

JAG and VAWA Regional Grant Bidders Conferences Announced
Those interested in applying for upcoming Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) or Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) funding are encouraged to attend a regional conference, which will be followed by additional training. Bidder trainings will cover specific information included in the Request for Proposals and is intended to answer any questions related to applications for funding. Early registration is encouraged. The JAG and VAWA solicitations are set to be released May 30. more
