Benjamin Suver joined the Ohio Department of Public Safety in January 2019 as the Director of Law Enforcement Initiatives.  Suver was previously at the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) for fourteen years, most recently serving as Special Agent in Charge.  As Special Agent in Charge, he oversaw five statewide units (Environmental Enforcement, Forensic Accountants, Polygraph, Heroin and Cyber Crimes) as well as southern Crime Scene, Narcotics, Crimes against Children and Special Investigations operations.

Suver has more than 23 years of experience in the criminal justice field, with the majority of his time investigating major crimes. During his career, Suver has served as a BCI Special Agent Supervisor over the Southwest Special Investigations and Major Crimes units, BCI Special Agent assigned to Special Investigations and the Attorney General’s Health Care Fraud Unit. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office as Special Agent in 2005, Suver served as a Detective with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for more than nine years.

Suver received his Bachelor of Arts in Humanities/Humanistic Studies from Antioch University (McGregor) and his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University.
