(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Ohio Traffic Safety Council will meet virtually Wednesday, May 5, at 9 a.m. During the meeting, attendees will hear from former Ohio State Highway Patrol Colonel Kenneth L. Morckel (ret.), who is now a Senior Vice President with TDD Public Safety Services. Colonel Morckel, on behalf of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will be presenting on Reinvesting in Traffic Safety Post 2020 and discussing one of the most basic and vital functions policing serves – saving lives through traffic safety efforts. The meeting will also include updates from the distracted driving, youthful driving, and impaired driving submcommittees.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine established the Council in September 2020. The Council is led by the Ohio Department of Public Safety and includes representatives from federal, state, county, and local agencies along with traffic safety partners and advocates who are all dedicated to making Ohio's roadways safer.
